[WARNING] Credit Card Fraud at Jasmine City Hotel, Bangkok
I am sharing my experience to prevent others from falling victim to credit card theft that occurred at Jasmine City Hotel in Bangkok in late January 2024.
The Incident:
During check-in, a male staff member (who resembled a well-known Japanese announcer) made a black-and-white photocopy of both sides of my credit card. When questioned, he claimed it was "security for potential room damage or missing items." However, there is no legitimate reason for a hotel to photocopy the back of a card (the CVV/security code).
Fraudulent Activity:
On February 2nd, shortly after my return to Japan, I received an alert from my bank (Sumitomo Mitsui Card) regarding an unauthorized transaction of approximately 40,000 JPY at an online retailer. My card was immediately flagged for fraud and cancelled.
Advice for Travelers:
DO NOT allow the front desk to photocopy the back of your credit card.
If they have already taken a copy, demand that they return or destroy it in your presence before you check out.
The staff at this hotel may be systematically stealing guest information.
Incident Report: Credit Card Fraud (Jasmine City Hotel)
Date & Location: Late January 2024, Front Desk at Jasmine City Hotel, Bangkok.
Suspect & Method: A male staff member photocopied both sides of the credit card, including the Card Number, Expiry Date, and CVV code.
Timeline of Fraud:
Feb 2, 2024: Unauthorized attempt of 41,300 JPY at "Marui Internet Service" (Japan).
Feb 4, 2024: Notified by the card issuer's fraud detection system. The card was permanently blocked and reissued.
Criminal Nature: While the hotel claimed this was for "guarantee purposes," storing CVV codes is a violation of international security standards (such as PCI DSS). This strongly suggests the information was stolen with criminal intent.

ジョニー 気づいたら着衣のまま寝てた
9時間の爆睡
翌日は昼の12時まで ホテルのなかでいろいろ遊んでた
たまたまこの日は 日本人の団体ツアーの方も見受けられた
日本から往復 ビジネスクラスで @70万円する ぼったくりツアー笑
なんと 廊下にバリアードが現れた
タペストリーにも歴史を感じた
王様の私邸だったことをうかがわせる
ジョニの部屋427号室からパティオを観る
30代かな 受付のおねーさん
会議用のスペース
パラドールのロビーの一部 全体の広さはこの10倍以上
日本の小学校の教室 20コ 分くらい
パラドールの中庭に面した廻廊
朝のホテル 正面 デカすぎて全体を撮れない

台風26号東京直撃 で リッチモンドホテル 1人 1泊 25500円也
普段は ダブルベッド 15500円の部屋だから 台風需要で 1万円 吹っかけただけ笑
そんなに足元を見ていないと思うが
でもこの価格をクリニック経理担当者や同僚に伝えたら 一同 絶句してた
『きょうの宿泊費とタクシー代はいくら かかってもクリニック持ち』 と経理に電話で確認していたので ま いいや
この価格なら自宅からタクシー出勤のほうがよほど安かったのに と 経理部長にチクッと言われた
そこまで言うなら 『おまえがクリニックでホテルの部屋を押さえとけよ』 とも思う
10月15日の午前中にホテルを捜していれば 7000円台から部屋は見つけられたとホテル側はジョニに話していたので
きょうは手術のほかに 抜糸 包帯交換で医師の診察を求める患者多く 台風のことは忘れていた
同僚医師もそれぞれ自分の判断でホテルを確保している
それにしても・・・
ジョニの宿泊代がひときわ群を抜いた高額であった
秋田でもリッチモンドホテルはよく利用するが 清潔で広々 とくにバスタブが大きいのが魅力
あしたの朝食も付けちゃったし自宅の部屋より 広々 スッキリ
こんなに宿泊でばたばた 慌てたのは あの 2011年9月11日の夜以来だ
