At approximately 7:10 p.m. on September 12, 2025, United Airlines Flight 32 (a Boeing 737-800) from Narita Airport to Cebu, Philippines, made an emergency landing at Kansai International Airport after an alarm went off while flying over the Pacific Ocean. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Kansai Airport Office, all 142 crew members and passengers evacuated the aircraft using the emergency slides. Two people were taken to the hospital, and three others sustained minor scrapes.

On April 9, 2017, a 69-year-old Vietnamese-American doctor, David Dao, was forcibly removed from a United Airlines flight and severely injured.
