Double-charging for accommodation fees at Hotel Arde Köln Zentrum.

During check-in, always make sure to confirm if the accommodation fees have already been paid.

In March 2024, when staying at Arde Köln Zentrum, I asked if the payment had been made in advance, and the receptionist, a Turkish man in his 20s, said something strange like, "Do you want to pay for the accommodation now? Or is paying later okay?"

Prepayment is common sense, but he seemed to think otherwise.

After paying the accommodation fees with a credit card, I was asked if I needed the payment receipt, so I took it.

Later, when I checked my booking on BOOKING.COM, I found that the hotel had already been paid 77 euros for the stay at Hotel Arde Köln Zentrum, two days prior, using the credit card.

Immediately, I informed the Turkish male receptionist that they had double-charged me, and requested a refund for the amount I had just paid. He smoothly processed the refund and handed me a receipt.

When I asked him why they had charged the prepaid accommodation fees again, he calmly responded, "Because you said you wanted to pay with a card."

This man is using this tactic to double-charge accommodation fees from many guests.
